Vanderbilt baseball’s second-highest ranked commit, Sean Gamble, is unlikely to make it to campus after being selected 23rd overall by the Kansas City Royals in the 2025 MLB draft on July 13.

Gamble, a 6-foot-2, 185-pound outfielder who hits left-handed, was ranked the No. 7 prospect in the 2025 class by Perfect Game. He was also the No. 27 prospect in the draft, according to MLB Pipeline.

Although Gamble is viewed primarily as a future center fielder, he also can play the middle infield. He is from Des Moines and attends IMG Academy.

Vanderbilt has had at least one signee taken in every draft since 2017. Other Commodores signees who have been taken in the 2025 MLB Draft include pitcher Seth Hernandez, who was selected by the Pittsburgh Pirates at No. 6 overall.
