KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) – The wait was worth it for Hunter Ensley.
The Tennessee native and Volunteer baseball great has signed an undrafted free agent deal with the Kansas City Royals to begin his professional baseball career.
Ensley turned in one of the great careers in Tennessee history, ranking in the top ten in the history of the program in games played with 205.
The Huntington native finished his career with a .303 batting average, 29 home runs, and 141 RBI. He earned All-Region and second team All-SEC honors in his final season on Rocky Top.
Ensley joins a Kansas City organization that features two of his Tennessee teammates from the 2024 national championship team. Drew Beam is with High-A Quad Cities and AJ Causey is in Double-A for the Northwest Arkansas Naturals.
