The Danville High School baseball team played one of its best games of the year, but saw its season end in a 3-1 loss to Moravia in a Class 1A district quarterfinal game on July 5 at Moravia.

Jaden Bauer pitched five innings, allowing four hits and two earned runs. He walked one, hit a batter and struck out five.

Alex Holtkamp pitched the final inning, fanning two batters.

Bauer hit a home run in the first inning to give the Bears the lead. Zander Stotlar singled for the Bears’ other hit. Bauer also had a stolen base.

Danville ends the season with a 1-19 record.

PEKIN 12, VAN BUREN COUNTY 1

The Warriors saw their season come to a close in a Class 1A district quarterfinal loss to the Panthers at Moravia.

Izaak Loeffler went 2-for-3 and stole two bases for the Warriors, while Leo Jirak also had a single. Jirak drove in Kayden Simmons with the Warriors’ lone run.

Van Buren County ends the season with a 9-15 record.
