BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Edian Espinal was one of five UCF Knights baseball players to be selected in the 2025 MLB Draft.

A 2022 graduate of Viera High School, he joins Dylan Jordan and his brother Alan Espinal as the most recent Hawks to be drafted in the MLB.

Just one year ago, Edian’s older brother Alan was selected in the 11th round of the 2024 MLB Draft by the Colorado Rockies. Now the Espinal brothers have both been drafted and have the opportunity to play in the Majors.

Edian played a significant role in Viera’s success during his time there. In 2020-21 as a Junior, he helped the Hawks reach their State Semi-finals. The Hawks have been known to produce very good talent, and with Edian being drafted, he marks the fourth player in the past four years to have their name called.

After his career at Viera ended, Espinal would head on to Chipola College, one of the top Junior College baseball teams in the nation.

As a freshman, he was named First Team All-Panhandle Conference, and again, as a sophomore, he received the same honors. Once he finished two years at the JUCO level, Espinal would sign with UCF and begin his career with the Knights this past season.

It was not long before he started to impress, leading the nation in batting average over the first few weeks of the season.

Espinal wrapped up a very good junior season with four homers, 37 RBIs, and 11 stolen bases. He finished third on the team in on-base percentage, had nearly 20 games with multiple hits, and had a 28-game reached base safely streak.
