FSU baseball’s Link Jarrett, Drew Faurot and Jamie Arnold talk regional win
The Athletics have selected Florida State baseball star pitcher Jamie Arnold with the 11th pick in the 2025 MLB Draft.
Arnold is now the highest picked FSU baseball player since Buster Posey, who was picked fifth in the 2008 draft by the San Francisco.
The slot value for the 11th overall pick is $5,985,100.
He is the ninth FSU pitcher selected in the first round. With the A’s selecting Arnold, the Seminoles have had back-to-back years with first-round picks for the first time since 2014 and 2015.
Jamie Arnold stats, pitch mix: What does he bring to the Athletics
Year:Â Junior
Position:Â Left Handed Pitcher
2025 stats:Â 2.98 ERA / 1.06 WHIP / 8-2 record / 84.2 innings pitched / 30 runs / 28 earned runs / 27 walks / 119 K’s
Arnold has a devastating slider that recorded the majority of his 119 strikeouts in his junior year. The combination of his fastball and slider tore apart college lineups, and Arnold showed good command of his change-up at times in his junior season, though his fastball and slider dominate his pitch arsenal.
With a unique high and wide arm angle, Arnold is able to generate a lot of movement with his slider that fools batters at the plate. It helped him record eight or more strikeouts in all but four of the 15 appearances he had in the 2025 season.
He has above-average command, and if he can continue to generate swing and miss at a similar level to how he did in college, Arnold could move quickly through the A’s system and make it to the majors sooner rather than later.
