Robinson and Chadwick are the first Redbirds drafted since Elijah Dale and Derek Salata were selected in 2023, continuing ISU’s recent track record of sending talent to the pros.
Robinson anchored the Redbirds’ infield last season, starting 54 games. He hit .269 with 45 RBIs, 10 home runs and 50 runs scored, while posting a .462 on-base percentage. He also went a perfect 7-for-7 in stolen base attempts and tallied 96 total bases.
Chadwick made his mark on the mound, earning All-Missouri Valley Conference second team honors after 12 starts. He worked 77.1 innings, posted a 4.69 ERA and finished with a 5-2 record.
The Redbird Ace will follow in his father’s footsteps to be an MLB pitcher. Ray Chadwick was drafted in the 16th round and 415th overall to the California Angeles in the 1983 June Amateur Draft.
Both players join a growing list of Redbirds advancing to the big-league level – a testament to Illinois State’s continued success in player development.
