SYRACUSE 9, JACKSONVILLE 2 (BOX)

Blade Tidwell looked pretty good on the mound in his first appearance since last week’s poor MLB debut. Unfortunately, an hour-and-a-half rain delay knocked him from the game. Syracuse won this one pretty dominantly once the game started back up.

GAME ONE

READING 7, BINGHAMTON 5 / 7 (BOX)

Jonathan Pintaro gave up a first inning run, which put Binghamton down early but not out of the first. Jonathan Pintaro gave up four more in the second run, and that was no good. The offense hit a ton of sharply hit balls, but they just kept finding gloves unfortunately. The bats eventually found their groove, plating a run in the fourth and fifth on RBI doubles by William Lugo and the rehabbing Ronny Mauricio. In the sixth, Binghamtom was able to load up the bases and score three runs on some wildness on the part of pitcher Gunner Mayer and a sac fly, tying the game up at 5-5. Things unfortunately did not stay tied for long, as left fielder Hendry Mendez hit a two-run homer off of Carlos Guzman to put Reading back on top in the seventh. Down to their last three outs, the Rumble Ponies had the top of the order due up and their best chance to get something cooking but weren’t able to get anything going.

GAME TWO

BINGHAMTON 6, READING 0 / 7 (BOX)

In the first inning, Jonah Tong had a 1-2-3 inning, striking out the side. In the second inning, Jonah Tong had a 1-2-3 inning, striking out two of the three batters he faced. Third inning, Tong had a 1-2-3 inning, striking out two of the three batters he faced. Fourth inning, Tong had a 1-2-3 inning, striking out just one batter. Fifth inning, Tong had a 1-2-3 inning, striking out the side. Sixth inning, Tong had a 1-2-3 inning, striking out two of the three batters he faced. In the seventh inning, Jonah Tong got a flyout and a groundout, but with his pitch count at 99 pitches, manager Reid Brignac called for TJ Shook out of the pen, to the shock and dismay of the thousand or so fans in attendance. Shook threw five pitches, got DH Hendry Mendez to strike out looking to end the game, and the Binghamton Rumble Ponies threw their first ever perfect game. It was the first time since 2023, when Joander Suarez threw a no-hitter against the Hartford Yard Goats, that Binghamton had a no-no and the first no-hitter at home (Binghamton Municipal Stadium/NYSEG Stadium/Mirabito Stadium) since Bobby Keppel threw one against the Portland Sea Dogs in 2003.

BROOKLYN 6, ASHEVILLE 1 (BOX)

The Cyclones became the first affiliate to reach 20 wins this season. Early on, Noah Hall and Tourists starter Brett Gillis traded zeroes, and in the fourth, when both teams scored, traded ones. The Cyclones finally started running away with things in the sixth, against reliever Jose Guedez. They plated two against him in the sixth and another two in the seventh; in the ninth, they scored one more off of his replacement for good measure. The Cyclones bullpen, meanwhile, was phenomenal, with Jace Beck, Dylan Ross, and Chandler Marsh combined to not allow a single baserunner over three-plus innings.

CLEARWATER 10, ST. LUCIE 5 (BOX)

Frank Elissalt made the start for St. Lucie, and things went about as poorly as they possibly could. Not only did the right-hander labor, but the defense on the field was sloppy, and Elissalt ended up leaving the game after recording just a single out due to an injury. The bullpen wasn’t particularly good, and it was overall just a game you want to forget.
