The Brief

• Eight teams will compete over three days at Columbia Basin College in the annual Warriors Invitational tournament

• The tournament features 14U players competing under high school rules on a college field with a three-game guarantee

• Entry fees and donated baseballs help organizers keep the community-focused event affordable and sustainable

PASCO, Wash. — Eight teams will take the field at Columbia Basin College this weekend as the Warriors Invitational returns, bringing some of the region’s top 14U baseball talent to the Tri-Cities for three days of competition.

The annual tournament has established itself as a summer tradition, drawing teams from across the region for the opportunity to compete on a college field under high school rules. The event runs through Sunday, with the championship game scheduled for 5 p.m.

Tournament organizers emphasize that the event focuses on more than just winning, prioritizing player development, competitive play, and community building. Each participating team receives a three-game guarantee, ensuring a minimum of three games regardless of the tournament results.

“Just started it by getting the idea by having teams get together in the area and having that affordable tournament for everybody to come play in,” said Steven Gourley, head coach of the Tri-City Warriors. “Not looking to make any profit on this thing, just looking to get teams together for some good baseball on a high-quality field here at CBC.”

The tournament’s sustainability relies on entry fees and donated baseballs to cover operational costs while maintaining affordability for participating families. This approach allows organizers to continue the tradition year after year without creating financial barriers for teams.

Columbia Basin College provides the venue, offering players the experience of competing on a collegiate-level field. The high school rules format gives younger players exposure to the regulations they will encounter as they advance in their baseball careers.

The Warriors Invitational represents the type of grassroots tournament that forms the backbone of youth baseball development in the Pacific Northwest. By focusing on accessibility and competition rather than profit, the event creates opportunities for players to test their skills against regional competition.

Families and baseball fans are welcome to attend games throughout the weekend to support the young athletes. The tournament schedule runs from Friday through Sunday, building toward the championship finale.

The three-day format enables teams to showcase their depth and adaptability while providing coaches with opportunities to evaluate player development in a competitive environment. For many participants, the tournament serves as a stepping stone toward high school baseball programs.

As the Warriors Invitational enters another year, it continues to fulfill its mission of bringing together regional talent for affordable, high-quality competition in a community-centered atmosphere.
