The Arizona Diamondbacks wrap up their four-game series with the rival Los Angeles Dodgers on Sunday, May 11, with an afternoon game on Mother’s Day. It’s Zac Gallen, who has looked more effective of late, on the mound against the Dodgers starter-reliever swingman, Ben Casparius.

The Diamondbacks went from not having played a division foe in the National League West to playing the Dodgers and San Francisco Giants in back-to-back series. It’s off to San Francisco for the Diamondbacks for a May 12-14, three-game set against another quality opponent in the Giants.

In fact, the Giants series is just part of 13 consecutive games against NL West opponents. The Colorado Rockies at home and the Dodgers in Los Angeles are next up.

The Giants, to the surprise of certainly more than a few observers, are one of baseball’s better teams. They were 15-7 against teams with .500 or better winning percentages going into play on May 9, and they have managed to stay relatively healthy.

Former Diamondbacks left-hander Robbie Ray extended his unbeaten streak to eight consecutive starts to open the 2025 season, working six innings of one-run ball to lead the Giants to a win over the Chicago Cubs on May 7. The Giants won that series on the road over the NL Central’s top team.

The sparkplug on offense is Korea’s Jung Hoo Lee, who is the leader or is among the team leaders in several batting categories. Lee arrived in the offseason via free agency and is already a fan favorite in the Bay.

The Giants’ bullpen has also been a strength this season and might be the biggest reason for the team’s success.

From San Francisco, it’s back home for the Diamondbacks to play the struggling Rockies for the first time this season. Colorado ended the week as the only MLB team without a double-digit win total.

The three-game series starts on May 16 and features a fireworks show after the first game and a replica jersey giveaway for the first 25,000 fans at Chase Field on May 17.
