ANCHORAGE, Alaska (KTUU) – A report of shots being fired near a midtown Anchorage sports complex has triggered a large police search in the woods and evacuated people in the area Friday evening.
An Anchorage Police Department spokesperson said a report came in of shots fired in the woods near the Mulcahy Stadium and Sullivan Arena complex.
An APD alert was sent out shortly after 5 p.m. advising the public to avoid the area between A Street and Gambell Street, and 15th Avenue and Fireweed Lane.

The spokesperson said players and people attending a baseball game were forced to evacuate the area.
The Chester Creek trail system has also been closed in the search area.
Police said nobody has been found shot, but 16 police units are on the scene searching the area.
APD is asking the public to stay away as officers investigate the area.
