Atlantic junior Lila Wiederstein was one of three unanimous Hawkeye Ten Conference selections when all-conference selections were named this week.

Wiederstein, as a catcher and sometimes designated hitter, was the Trojans’ top hitter, with a .478 average and a .509 on-base percentage. Twenty-five of her 48 base hits were for extr bases, including seven home runs, and she batted in 37 runners.

Joining Wiederstein as unanimous all-Hawkeye Ten were Creston senior Ava Adamson and Council Bluffs Lewis Centrla’s Aubree Davis.

Also first team for Atlantic: Zoey Kirchhoff and Peyton McLaren, both at pitcher/shortstop; and Makenna Schroeder in the outfield.

Kirchhoff, a junior, was in the top 5 in the Hawkeye Ten in RBIs with 44, and of her 49 base hits, 15 were for extra bases including three home runs. She was 9-8 on the mound with a 3.35 ERA, with 71 strikeouts against 34 walks in 104-1/3 inning. McLaren, a sophomore, pitched 123 innings and had a 1.54 ERA, with 90 strikeouts against 15 walks. Offensively, McLaren was .310 at the plate with a .363 on-base percentage, with 35 base hits (including two home runs) and 23 runs batted in.

Schroeder, a junior, was .376 at hte plate and had a .448 on-base percentage, with 44 base hits.

On the second team all-conference for Atlantic were junior third baseman Claire Schroder and senior second baseman McKenna Sonntag. Schroder was .336 with 38 base hits including a home run and 17 RBIs, while Sonntag broke into the lineup her senior year and had a .283 average with two home runs among her 30 hits and 16 RBIs.

Atlantic finished the season with a 17-3 Hawkeye Ten Conference record, good for second place. Creston was the conference champions with a perfect 20-0 Hawkeye Ten record, the Panthers reaching the Iowa Class 4A regional championship game before falling to Dallas Center-Grimes.
