HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – Former Saint Louis and Oregon State shortstop Aiva Arquette was selected by the Miami Marlins in the 2025 Major League Baseball Draft.
Arquette is heading to the Sunshine State, drafted by the Miami Marlins with the 7th overall pick.
The selection makes the former Crusader the second-highest Hawaii-born MLB draft pick — Punahou’s Justin Wayne was taken fifth overall by the Montreal Expos in 2000.
Arquette started his collegiate career at Washington, but transferred to Corvallis for his junior season.
At 6-foot-5, Arquette hit .354 with 19 home runs, 17 doubles, 66 RBIs and 73 runs scored for the Beavers.
Aruquette was the first collegiate position player off the board in this year’s draft with his slot value at No. 7 set at $7,149,900.
