This week was the All-Star break, which meant a break from MLB game action, but it was a surprisingly busy week nonetheless. Not only did we have the All-Star Game, but we also had the MLB Draft.

Hunter Goodman was the lone Rockie in the Midsummer Classic and entered in the top of the fifth to replace starting catcher Will Smith of the Los Angeles Dodgers. He took one at-bat in the sixth and flied out to Detroit Tigers’ righty Casey Mize, but also committed a throwing error that led to an unearned run in the seventh for the AL against San Francisco Giants’ reliever Randy Rodríguez. Needless to say it was a forgettable night for the 25-year-old.

In the draft, the Rockies made 21 picks headlined by the pick of Ethan Holliday fourth-overall. Holliday is, of course, the son of Rockies’ legend Matt Holliday and the Rockies are hoping he can make a quick impact on this struggling team.

Finally, in place of Rockpiles, the Purple Row staff decided to revisit our pre-season positional analysis due to all of the changes (and historical badness) of this team. We will finish up on Monday with General Manager and Ownership.

Here’s how everyone covered the events of the week:
