The St. Louis Cardinals are on a two-game losing streak since the All-Star Break after dropping the second of three at Arizona, Saturday night, 10-1. Sonny Gray took the loss for the Redbirds. Miles Mikolas gets the ball for St. Louis on Sunday afternoon. It’s a 3:10 start.

The Alton River Dragons won in an unexpected way, Saturday night in Quincy. Their Prospect League game was reportedly cut short by a light malfunction at the ballpark. Final score was 9-8 in six innings. Alton returns home for a 5:35 game Sunday night against Illinois Valley.

The Savannah Bananas brought a little Riverbend magic to their game at Busch Stadium on Saturday night. The Pride of Brighton and Southwestern High School, Cardinals baseball hall of famer Jason Isringhausen pitched part of an inning in relief, as did former Redbird and current Marion resident Lance Lynn. Isringhausen spoke with our friends at Fox Two afterward:

Savannah won both games over their rivals, The Party Animals, in St. Louis.

St. Louis native and Incarnate Word High graduate Napheesa Collier won MVP honors at Saturday night’s WNBA All-Star Game in Indianapolis. Collier scored an ASG record 36 points as the team she captained was victorious over Team Caitlin Clark, 151-131.
