Add another name to the list of USC players in Major League Baseball. Last Friday, Rhylan Thomas made his debut for the Seattle Mariners, becoming the latest Trojan to make it to the big leagues.
Thomas got the start in right field for Seattle on the road against the Texas Rangers. He went 1-for-4, recording a double for his first MLB hit, while also recording two RBI on sacrifice plays.

Thomas played at USC from 2020 through 2022. He served as the Trojans’ starting center fielder and leadoff hitter during his three years on campus. In 2022, he finished third in the Pac-12 conference with a .363 batting average.
The New York Mets selected Thomas in the 11th round of the 2022 MLB draft. After spending two-plus years in New York’s system, he was traded to Seattle prior to last summer’s trade deadline in exchange for relief pitcher Ryne Stanek.
