President Trump wants the Cleveland Guardians to change their name.

The President of the United State declared on Sunday that two professional sports teams, the Washington Commanders and the Cleveland Guardians, should go back to their old team names. Washington was the Redskins and Cleveland was the Guardians.

President Trump, 79, made his declarations clear on Sunday evening.

“The Washington “Whatever’s” should IMMEDIATELY change their name back to the Washington Redskins Football Team. There is a big clamoring for this. Likewise, the Cleveland Indians, one of the six original baseball teams, with a storied past. Our great Indian people, in massive numbers, want this to happen. Their heritage and prestige is systematically being taken away from them. Times are different now than they were three or four years ago. We are a Country of passion and common sense. OWNERS, GET IT DONE!!!” he announced.

The Guardians have officially responded to President Trump. They will not be changing their name.

Cleveland Guardians president Chris Antonetti released a statement on the name on Sunday night.

“I understand there are very different perspectives on the decision we made a few years ago, but it’s a decision we made and we’ve gotten the opportunity to build the brand as the Guardians over the last four years and we’re excited about the future that’s in front of us,” he said.

President Trump is threatening to make things difficult for the Washington Commanders and their new stadium in downtown D.C. He’s threatening to stop helping if the team doesn’t change its name back.

However, he doesn’t have a similar threat to make with the Cleveland Guardians.

But perhaps the President of the United States will find one soon.
