GAINESVILLE, Fla. (WCJB) – A week following getting drafted by the Miami Marlins, former Florida right-handed pitcher Jake Clemente has put pen to paper.
The seventh round pick will receive $500,000 with a deal well over the No. 198 pick slot value. Slot value for the pick Clemente was taken at — No. 198 overall — was $309,400.

Clemente was the second selection signed for the Gators following Luke Heyman. He was also the second Gator off the board, trailing Colby Shelton who went with the No. 166 pick in the sixth round to the White Sox.
Clemente, coming off a strong redshirt sophomore campaign, made 21 appearances with five weekend starts. Further, he produced a career-best 3.46 ERA across 54.2 innings pitched and striking out 77 batters while walking just 25.
