MILWAUKEE (WLUK) — Sunday’s win against the Los Angeles Dodgers was already significant for the Milwaukee Brewers because it meant the team swept the 2024 World Series Champions. But there’s another meatier reason the victory has significance.

Milwaukee-based George Webb restaurants run a promotion based on the Brewers performance. If the team wins 12 games in a row, the diner chain will give away free hamburgers.

The Brewers last won a dozen games in a row in 2018. George Webb locations in Wisconsin gave out 90,000 hamburgers and another 100,000 free hamburger vouchers after the team clinched their 12th win in a row, according to WITI-TV in Milwaukee.

Most George Webb locations can be found in the Milwaukee area, but there’s also one location in Peshtigo.

The restaurant manager in Peshtigo remembers the 2018 giveaway well. “It was a new experience because I became manager that year, and it’s history. It was the second time in history that it happened,” said Cassandra Hollar.

Hollar says she’s hopeful the Brewers can trigger the third hamburger giveaway in team history. “It brings in people and shows the community how we can all work as a team to make things happen,” she said.
