Georgia added to its MLB pipeline Monday as pitchers JT Quinn and Brian Curley were both selected on Day 1 of the 2025 draft.
The right-hander Quinn was taken with the No. 69 overall pick by the Baltimore Orioles in the Competitive Balance Round B, while Curley went No. 92 overall to the Arizona Diamondbacks in the third round. The selections mark the first time either organization has drafted a Georgia player since 2009.
Quinn, a 6-foot-6 right-hander from Tampa, Florida, appeared in 17 games for Georgia this season, starting seven. He finished with a 1-1 record, 2.75 ERA and one save across 36 innings, striking out 49 and limiting opponents to a .184 batting average. His best outings came in the postseason, where he struck out six in back-to-back appearances and earned a win over Texas A&M with 3 2/3 innings of relief.
Curley, a junior from Midlothian, Virginia, appeared in 17 games and made 10 starts, finishing the year 4-4 with a 3.55 ERA and two saves over 66 innings. He struck out a team-high 85 batters and earned All-SEC second team honors.Â
After opening the season in the bullpen, Curley transitioned to the starting rotation in March and notched wins against Florida Gulf Coast, No. 13 Florida, Missouri and No. 23 Alabama. Curley was also selected in the 16th round of the 2024 draft by the Pittsburgh Pirates but chose to return to school.
In addition to the two draftees from the 2024-2025 roster, Georgia shortstop commit Daniel Pierce was selected No. 14 overall by the Tampa Bay Rays. A standout from Mill Creek High School, Pierce is considered one of the top infielders in the country. He now has the option to go pro or honor his commitment to Georgia.
The Bulldogs have now produced at least one MLB draft pick every year since 1987 and have seen a player sign a professional contract in 52 consecutive seasons.
