Padres affiliates opened the week with a 0-3 showing on Monday. 

Here is our daily recap of games played. 

 

El Paso Chihuahuas – Off Day

El Paso opens a six-game home series against Sugar Land on Tuesday. 

 

San Antonio Missions – Off Day

San Antonio is set to open a six-game series hosting the Midland RockHounds at The Wolff.

 

Fort Wayne TinCaps – Off Day

Fort Wayne heads over to Cedar Rapids this week, facing off against the Kernels, so be sure to pack your popcorn. 

 

Lake Elsinore Storm – Off Day

The Storm heads up the I-5 for the week to take on the Stockton Ports. 

 

ACL Padres (Lost 3-1 vs ACL Royals) (14-44 on the season)

Jesus Castro – 2-for-2, Two Doubles

Yoiber Ocopio – 2-for-3, Double, Walk

Eiker Huizi – 2 IP, 1 H, 2 R, 1 BB, 4 K 

Eiker Huizi started for the Padres, making his second rehab appearance, pitching two innings. Huizi allowed two runs on one hit and a walk, striking out four batters. A wild pitch and balk played a role in the Royals’ two runs off Huizi. Luis Maracara threw two scoreless innings of relief, striking out three and walking two. Maracara is showing improvements at the ACL level after a rough start to the season. Adan Moreno allowed a home run in two innings of work, but also struck out three of seven batters faced. 

Jesus Castro had two of the Padres’ four doubles in the game, finishing 2-for-2. Yoiber Ocopio and Jesmaylin Arias each hit a double of their own for the Padres, and Luis De Leon scored the team’s lone run on a first-inning wild pitch. De Leon reached base two times in the game, and Ocopio reached base three times. Despite 10 base hits as a team, the Padres were 1-for-14 with runners in scoring position, stranding 11 baserunners in the loss. 

 

DSL Padres Gold (Lost 6-0 vs DSL Reds) (22-12 on the season)

Eddson Martinez – 1-for-4, Double

Santiago Contreras – 0-for-1, Two Walks

Dalvi Nunez – 4.2 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 2 BB, 5 K

The DSL Padres Gold only registered one hit against the DSL Reds in a shutout loss. Eddson Martinez had the Padres’ only hit with a double in the first inning, but would not come in to score. Jhoan De La Cruz reached base once via walk and stole his ninth base of the season. Santiago Contreras drew two walks in the game, while Deivid Coronil was held hitless in the loss. Dalvi Nunez tossed 4.2 shutout innings in the game, striking out five batters. Nunez’s outing was his best of the month, and his first scoreless start since June 30. Florangel Vasquez took the loss, allowing four runs in two innings. Jose Blanco tossed 1.1 scoreless innings, and Jeferson Villabona was tagged with two runs (one earned) in one inning of relief. 

 

DSL Padres Brown (Lost 12-5 vs DSL Astros Blue) (17-17 on the season)

Yonaiker Hernandez – 3-for-5, Two RBI

Tom Guerrero – 1-for-1, RBI Double, Four Walks

Daniel Burciaga – 3.2 IP, 6 H, 3 R (2 ER), 3 BB, 0 K

Daniel Burciaga allowed three runs in his second professional start, walking three batters. Burciaga allowed six hits and was not aided by a trio of defensive miscues from Yonaiker Hernandez and Tom Guerrero. Gensy Aquino allowed three runs in 1.2 innings, and Ariel Dilone struck out three in two innings of four-run baseball. Randoll Cruz allowed two runs in 0.2 innings. Hernandez and Guerrero made up for their defensive miscues with their bats. Guerrero finished with an RBI double and four walks, not making an out as a batter. Hernandez went 3-for-5 with three singles, driving in two runs. Sebastian Pena had a double and a run scored, and Darian Castillo scored two runs, reaching base twice. Endy Rios had a single and a walk in three plate appearances, scoring once.
