The Yankees didn’t start their trip up North on the right foot, dropping a snoozer of a loss to the Jays 4-1. The bats were dormant again, and the defense was lacking with Oswald Peraza botching a play that led to a pair of unearned runs going against Carlos Rodón. You could argue that it didn’t matter as much since they only plated a single run in the end, but they could’ve approached the plate differently knowing they were only down a run as opposed to needing baserunners to get anything going.

Today provides a chance to even things up and force a rubber match, but before all of that we’ve got some things on the docket. Nolan and Scott have our classic Tuesday double-feature on the farm, with the former going over the week at large for the organization while the latter dives into Scranton’s big win streak. Peter covers the Rivalry Roundup which was mostly kind to the Yankees as they dropped their game, Jeff gives us the latest entry of the 2000 Diary, and Michael ponders the position that the Yankees are in with managing Spencer Jones’ future. Estevão will also be around with a trade target centered on the longtime vet Seth Lugo.

Questions/Prompts:

1. The Yankees are 10-17 against the AL East this year, and there are 25 games left against the other four teams. Will the Yankees end up with a record better than .500 against them this year?

2. How likely is it that the Yankees not only improve over the deadline, but also add more than their competitors do?
