The Fort Madison High School baseball team had its fair share of ups and downs this season.
After losing six straight games to open the season, the Bloodhounds hit their stride late in the year and were playing some of their best baseball down the stretch.
A 7-4 win over Burlington ultimately cost the Grayhounds the Southeast Conference title. Fort Madison then swept Washington and finished SEC play with a 7-8 record.
Fort Madison went 0-14 against non-conference opponents. The Bloodhounds played Burlington Notre Dame tough and saw its season come to a close with a loss to perennial power Cedar Rapids Xavier in a Class 3A substate quarterfinal game.
