The Sunnyside Royals are on a hot streak, putting together six consecutive wins, including three victories last week and three more so far this week to improve their record to 9-19.

The Royals kicked off last week with a cross-town matchup against the Sunnyside Barons 13U, edging them out 13-10. From there, the Royals never looked back, following up with dominant performances against the Brewers and the White Sox.

Dreandre Garcia was nearly unstoppable at the plate in the Royals’ 18-0 shutout over the Brewers on Wednesday, July 16. Garcia went 3-for-3 with three singles and two RBIs, leading an offense that collected 12 hits and seven walks.

The Royals jumped ahead early with a five-run first inning, including a two-RBI single from Garcia and a sacrifice fly by Julian Alvarez. They added two more in the second, then exploded in the fourth inning for nine runs on nine hits. Saul Alcantar, Zaiah Castilleja, Elija Wood, Sean Jasso, Issac Bond, and Efrain Meija all drove in runs during the inning.

Meija also dominated on the mound, earning the win after allowing just two hits and striking out five over five scoreless innings.

The Royals were aggressive on the bases, swiping 11 bags, while playing error-free defense behind Meija.

One day later, Meija delivered another standout performance, collecting three hits and driving in three runs in a 20-1 win over the White Sox.

The Royals came out firing with a 12-run first inning, fueled by Meija’s RBI single, Bond and Jasso’s walks, and hits from Alvarez and Espinoza. A second single from Meija in the same inning scored two more runs.

Sunnyside added two more runs in the second and three more in the third. Schultz, Ruelas and Jasso each contributed RBIs in the later innings.

Dillon Lewis earned the win on the mound, tossing two hitless innings with three strikeouts despite walking seven. Schultz collected the save, while Espinoza pitched one scoreless inning of relief.

The Royals tallied 15 hits in the game, with Bond, Espinoza, and Jasso each recording multiple hits. The team also drew 10 walks and was aggressive on the base paths, stealing 14 bases. Meija led the defense with five fielding plays, as the Royals committed no errors and turned two double plays.
