Right now, the Milwaukee Brewers have the best record in MLB after winning their 11th straight game in Seattle Monday night. It’s an impressive feat in and of itself. But if the Brewers win one more in a row, all of Milwaukee will score free burgers. Milwaukee’s George Webb diner is preparing for the potential burger giveaway if the Brewers win their 12th consecutive game against the Mariners Tuesday night, continuing a tradition that dates back to the 1940s.The burger giveaway has only happened twice since the promotion’s inception, once in 1987 when George Webb handed out nearly 170,000 burgers, and again in 2018 when the diner distributed 90,000 burgers and even more vouchers.”Obviously, our staff knows about it, are excited about it. We try to have as much fun with this as we can, as stressful as it is, but the buzz in the restaurant is great.” George Webb Vice President Ryan Stamm told WISN 12 News. “We’re going to order 20,000 pounds of hamburger, and we’re going to make sure we have 100,000 burgers ready to go.”If the Brewers achieve the milestone Tuesday, that doesn’t mean the burger giveaway will happen the next day. The diner said it will announce a specific date and time for folks to get their free burgers.
