As Marcus Semien rounded the bases after his 364-foot home run down the left field line the fireworks went off at Globe Life Field and the crowd cheered. When he got back to the dugout though, he saw the play was being reviewed.

The ball landed in foul territory, but Semien saw the ball hit the foul pole, making it a home run.

“I was like if they say that is foul, I told somebody I’d run out there like George Brett and go crazy,” Semien said after the Texas Rangers beat the Athletics 6-2 on Tuesday night. “I saw it hit the pole.”

On July 24, 1983, Kansas City Royals legend Brett charged the umpire after his home run was taken back because the umpires deemed his bat illegal, with too much pine tar.

Almost 42 years later, Semien’s story had a different ending. The homer counted and was one of three Rangers home runs in the win. For the first time since Sept. 24, 2023, Semien homered in the same game as Adolis García and Corey Seager.

“They had a huge impact,” manager Bruce Bochy said. “They’re hitting in the heart of the order. They’re our guys and when they’re swinging well, we’re going to be playing well, scoring runs.”

García began the power display in the fourth inning with a 426-foot home run to center field. The homer was his 14th this season.

“We’re getting timely hits,” Bochy said. “We’re getting big hits. That was huge. Those are hits that we were missing earlier this season, but are starting to happen now.”

In the seventh inning, Seager hit a 399-foot three-run home run to right center field for his 14th homer and 35th RBI this season.

The three of them have only homered in the same game four times, with the other two times occurring in the 2022 season. The Rangers are now 3-1 when all three of them homer in the same game.

“We are two, three, four in the lineup, it’s our job to produce runs,” Semien said of himself, Seager and García. “Home runs are always fun. This ballpark’s been playing a little bigger, so we haven’t done that in awhile, but it’s always fun to have all three of us go deep.”
