How to watch New York Yankees games without cable: Video
Did you know: Yankees fans can stream games aired on the YES Network through the Gotham Sports app this 2025 season.
TORONTO – Max Fried hasn’t pitched since July 12, when he exited his start against the Chicago Cubs at Yankee Stadium after three innings, due to blister on his left index finger.
But the Yankees have slotted their ace lefty into a very important game on 10 days of rest and recuperation.
According to Yankees manager Aaron Boone, Fried “should be good to go” for Wednesday night’s series finale against the AL East-leading Blue Jays at Rogers Centre.
Fried (11-3, 2.43) threw two side sessions prior to Wednesday, following an initial flat ground throwing session wearing a Band-Aid.
Blisters have been a problem for Fried in the past, and “obviously you’re paying attention to it” during Wednesday night’s start against a Blue Jays club that puts the ball in play a lot.
Still, Boone said there “shouldn’t be any restrictions” on Fried as he tries to help the Yanks win a series against the Blue Jays, who hold a three-game lead on the second place Yankees.
After Wednesday’s game, the two teams have one remaining regular season series, Sept. 5-7, at Yankee Stadium.
“I do think there’s a steadiness to the group, a quiet confidence,” said Boone of a Yankees club that has posted a 15-20 record since June 13, and an overall 11-17 mark against AL East foes.
“That said, we understand we have to play better, especially within the division, if we’re going get to the place we want to go,” said Boone.
Here is the Yankees’ lineup against Blue Jays veteran right-hander Chris Bassitt (10-4, 3.89), who went 5.2 innings last time out against the Yanks, yielding three runs on eight hits and striking out nine batters in an 8-5 Toronto win July 3:
