Jett Williams doubles twice

Former Rockwall-Heath baseball player Jett Williams doubled twice and scored two runs during Binghamton’s 6-3 loss to the Reading Fightin Phils in the Double-A Eastern League.

Williams, drafted in the first round in 2022 by the New York Mets, is currently batting .294 for the season with 27 doubles, five triples and eight home runs. He’s scored 59 runs in 81 games and driven in 31 runs. He’s stolen 28 bases and his on-base percentage is .401.

Caleb Hoover commits to South Carolina

Former Rockwall-Heath baseball player Caleb Hoover has committed to play at South Carolina following a big freshman season at Grayson College.

Hoover will be joining a Gamecocks team that went 28-29 this past season.

Hoover played first base and pitched for Grayson this past season, batting .339 in 41 games with 16 home runs and 49 runs batted in. He drew a team-high 38 walks and had a stellar on-base percentage of .506.

He slugged two grand slam homers and drove in eight runs during Grayson’s 28-5  win over North Central Texas College. The Vikings, who scored 21 runs in the second inning, tied a national junior college record for most runs scored in a game.

Hoover also pitched five innings, allowing four hits, four walks and  one earned run for a 1.80 earned run average.

He played football and baseball at Heath.

Kevin Bazzell plays in minor league

Former Rockwall-Heath baseball player Kevin Bazzell is batting .203 for the Fredricksburg Nationals in the Single-A Carolina League.

Bazzell was drafted by the Washington Nationals  in the third round in 2024 after batting .330 in 112 games in two seasons for the Texas Tech Red Raiders.Â
