One of the area’s best high school products is officially going to the big leagues.
On Wednesday, it was announced that Providence Academy star, Josh Owens, has signed with the Texas Rangers and will head to the show.
Owens, a Georgia Southern signee, was drafted in the third round as the 84th overall pick in this year’s 2025 MLB Draft after a stellar senior campaign at the plate and on the mound.
The Johnson City kid became just the second local product to be drafted straight out of high school since Evan Carter (Elizabethton) in 2020.
