NY Mets: David Wright addresses the meaning of having his No. 5 retired

Before David Wright had his No. 5 retired by the Mets, he spoke to the media about the significance of the event and his 15 years with the team.

NEW YORK — The Mets are hoping that they have turned the corner in the last two days.

After dropping three straight games, the Mets grabbed the series finale against the Reds on Sunday and stacked on a comeback 7-5 victory over the Angels on Monday night at Citi Field.

The Mets will look to look secure the series victory over the Angels at 7:10 p.m. on Tuesday night at Citi Field.

Frankie Montas will be making his fifth start of the season after improving to 2-1 last time out by holding the Royals to one earned run across five innings on July 12. He has a 5.03 ERA after four starts.

On the other side, Angels veteran right-hander Kyle Hendricks will make the start. In 18 starts, Hendricks is 5-6 with a 4.88 ERA and 1.29 WHIP this season.

On Monday night, Francisco Alvarez made his return after spending nearly a month with Triple-A Syracuse and a big double and scored two runs. Juan Soto tied the game with a two-run single in the bottom of the seventh inning and Brett Baty scored the go-ahead run on a ground ball to the left side one inning later.
