Camden-Wyoming earned a chance to play for a spot in the Little League Softball World Series with a 3-1 victory over New Jersey in a regional semifinal Thursday night.
The Delaware champions picked up their second win over Toms River in the tournament behind another strong pitching outing from Shaianne Benson, who worked out of trouble all night while recording six strikeouts.
All of Delaware’s offense came in the 4th inning, as Alyssa Powell’s leadoff single led to the first run on a Kalista McFetridge infield fielder’s choice.
Camille Logan singled to right for a second run, preceding Garceleigh Humes’ bases-loaded walk.
New Jersey put a run on the board in the 5th on an RBI single, but Benson picked up the ground ball to get out of trouble, and then pitched a 1-2-3 6th to earn the victory.
Camille Logan went 2-for-2 for Delaware, who will get to try to revenge their only loss in their path towards the World Series.
Pennsylvania defeated Camden-Wyoming 6-2 on Wednesday.
Friday’s game in Bristol, Connecticut starts at 7 p.m., and will air on ESPN. It is a winner-take-all game, with the winner heading to the Little League Softball World Series next month.
A Delaware champion has not played in the LLSWS since Canal finished 3rd in 2017.
