The Burlington Bees (27-21, 15-7) won their seventh straight game home, beating the Thrillville Thrillbillies (26-22, 10-13) 7-4 on Thursday at Community Field.
The game was suspended by the umpires after the top of the sixth due to player safety and upcoming rain.
Blake Gaskey egistered a complete game victory. He tossed six innings, allowing four runs and striking out six. He moves to 3-1 on the year, getting his third straight win.
Thrillville scored the first run of the game on a lead-off home run. Burlington took the lead with four runs in the third inning.
Danny Rollins started the rally with a single. He finished 3 for 3 with a double.
Jake Miller followed with a walk and Caleb Klein singled to load the bases.
Marcus Beatty grounded into a double play that got Burlington on the board.
Now with two outs, Cole Yearsley worked a walk to put two-on.
Thrillville made a pitching change. Kooper Schulte came up with an RBI single right-away. It was his 41st RBI of the year, good for second in the Prospect League.
Yearsley and Schulte went up a base on a wild pitch. Corey Boyette walked to load the bases. It was Boyette’s birthday.
Caleb Seibers singled to score another and pick up an RBI. Schulte got caught in a run-down, but would come across to score.
After two Thrillbillies run to pull the team within one in the fourth, the Bees kept churning.
Rollins doubled and Miller came up with his first Burlington hit to start the frame. One scored on a wild pitch.
Klein hit a sacrifice fly for his 21st RBI. This made the score 6-3 after four.
Kila Teixeira walked and Rollins singled to kick off the bottom of the fifth.
Klein made it a two-RBI day on a single to make it 7-3. Thrillville scored one more in the top of the inning but the game was suspended after the top of the sixth.
