Season series: Blue Jays lead 3-2

The Blue Jays stayed hot Friday night with a 6-2 win over the Tigers, cashing as +101 road underdogs while the Under (9) hit. Toronto followed up Thursday’s 11-run outburst with another strong showing, led by 1B Vladimir Guerrero Jr.’s 2 doubles and RBI. SS Bo Bichette added a 2-RBI double, and DH George Springer notched 3 hits. The Jays have won 7 of 8 since the All-Star break.

The Tigers dropped their fifth straight and have lost 7 of 8 since the All-Star break. SP Keider Montero struggled (4 IP, 5 ER, 9 H, 3 K) against Toronto’s lineup. Detroit’s only offense came from a solo homer by 1B Spencer Torkelson and an RBI double off the bat of C Dillon Dingler in the loss.

Blue Jays 3, Tigers 2

BET BLUE JAYS (+170).

If Skubal weren’t on the mound, there’s no question the Blue Jays would be favored — not listed as +170 underdogs. Detroit’s only win since the All-Star break came with Skubal starting, a narrow 2-1 victory. Still, Toronto is the better team right now, and everything is clicking. The Blue Jays have won 7 of 8 and are swinging hot bats, making this plus-money spot too hard to ignore.

On the other side, Gausman has quietly been excellent. He’s gone 2-0 over his last 5 starts, giving up just 8 earned runs across 30 2/3 innings. While he’s not the reigning AL Cy Young favorite like Skubal, this shapes up as a strong pitching duel.

But in a close matchup, trust the team in better form. The Blue Jays are red hot and capable of scraping together enough offense even against a top-tier starter. Back Toronto to stay hot, and take advantage of the generous odds.

PASS.

I don’t mind taking Toronto +1.5 (-140) in a parlay, but overall, I’m going to stay away from the run line and keep my wager to the moneyline.

BET UNDER 7 (-105).

With 2 strong starters on the mound, especially Skubal, the Under looks like the smart play Saturday. The Under is 3-1-1 in the last 5 meetings between these teams and has cashed in 6 of Detroit’s last 8 games. It’s also hit in each of Gausman’s last 3 outings. Back a low-scoring affair.
