The Toronto Blue Jays (63-42) and Detroit Tigers (60-46) wrap up their 4-game series Sunday. First pitch from Comerica Park in Detroit is set for 1:40 p.m. Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s MLB odds around the Blue Jays vs. Tigers odds and make our expert MLB picks and predictions for the best bets.

Season series: Blue Jays lead 4-2

The Blue Jays continued their post-break surge with a 6-1 win over the Tigers on Saturday, securing a third straight win in the series (11-4 Thursday, 6-2 Friday). Listed as +151 road underdogs, Toronto broke a scoreless tie with 2 runs in the eighth inning and 4 runs in the ninth. DH George Springer went 3-for-5 with a home run. 1B Vladimir Guerrero Jr. and OF Nathan Lukes added home runs as well. The AL East-leading Blue Jays have won 8 of 9 games since the All-Star break.

The Tigers dropped their sixth straight game Saturday, wasting a dominant outing from reigning AL Cy Young winner Tarik Skubal (6 IP, 0 ER, 5 H, 3 BB, 7 K). Detroit’s only offense came from an RBI groundout by LF Riley Greene. The Al Central leaders look to avoid a 4-game sweep on Sunday.

Tigers 5, Blue Jays 4

BET TIGERS (-120).

I like the Tigers to finally snap out of their post-All-Star Game slump and avoid the 4-game sweep on Sunday. Yes, the Blue Jays are the hottest team in baseball, but this is a favorable spot for Detroit with Flaherty on the mound. Flaherty has had consistent success against Toronto, allowing just 8 ER over his last 4 starts against them. On the other side, Scherzer hasn’t gone deep into games and has allowed at least 2 ER in every start this season.

The Tigers’ bats are due for a breakout, averaging only 1.8 runs per game since the break. Despite their struggles, Detroit has still played well at Comerica Park with a 32-21 record. Something has to give—and I believe it will be Toronto’s win streak. Take the Tigers to salvage the series finale.

PASS.

I’m not playing around with the run line on Sunday, I like taking the safer bet with the Tigers on moneyline.

PASS.

I’m staying away from the total in this one. With these 2 pitchers on the mound, it could turn into a low-scoring duel—or just as easily turn into a shootout. There’s no strong trend either, as the total is 5-5 in their last 10 matchups. Too unpredictable to play.
