Although Guam played fiercely, Caribbean’s runs poured in.
With two on and no outs, Melendez hit a 2RBI triple that carried to the wall in right field.
“It’s  a five-nothing ball game with nobody out in the second,” one of the two ESPN+ announcers said. “It’s going to be tough for Guam. They’ve got to get going. right now. The Caribbean team, this Puerto Rican team, is really looking nice, right now.”
Rodriguez, the next batter, smashed a fly ball to center field that hit the warning track, then the wall. Balajada fielded the ball but Melendez scored easily.Â
“This Puerto Rican team is a problem,” an announcer said. “I can tell you that, right now. This Puerto Rican team is a problem. He got the hanger. He did not miss the hanger. That’s a pretty piece of hitting, right there.”

In the middle of the fifth inning and with a 10-run rule in effect and Puerto Rico leading 16-6, the game ended.Â
“A couple of offensive eruptions, and then just kind of a slow bleed executed by Puerto Rico’s offense throughout gets them the 10-run victory,” an announcer said.Â
“This team is going to be a hard out, I could tell you that, right now. They’re fundamental, they play hard, they’re disciplined. And, they got talent. And, they’ve got a little bit of swag, as well,” the announcer added. Â
