Padres affiliates went 2-4 on Saturday in five games played.

El Paso Chihuahuas (Won 5-1 vs Sugar Land) (54-47 on the season)
Clay Dungan – 2-for-4, Double, Two Runs Scored

Forrest Wall – 2-for-4. Two-RBI Double
Jackson Wolf – 6 IP, 5 H, 1 R (0 ER), 2 BB, 8 K (87 pitches – 58 strikes)
El Paso rode their walk-off momentum from Friday night to a Saturday win. Clay Dungan finished with two hits out of the leadoff spot, scoring twice. Dungan is hitting .270 with a .354 OBP and .840 OPS out of the leadoff spot this season. Forrest Wall finished with two base hits in the game, and his seventh-inning double scored two runs. Brandon Lockridge hit a sacrifice fly to score the Chihuahuas’ first run in the third inning, and Nate Mondou extended the lead on a bunt single to score Clay Dungan. Yonathan Perlaza also singled to drive in a run in the game. While Mason McCoy was held hitless in the game, he had an impressive glove flip in the fourth that was worthy of the SportsCenter Top 10 and a hearty “Boo-yah”.

Jackson Wolf toed the rubber for the Chihuahuas, tossing six innings and allowing only one unearned run. Wolf scattered two hits and two walks in his outing, and mixed his pitches effectively to induce whiffs on 34.1% of swings in the zone. Wolf has only allowed two earned runs in his last three starts, lowering his Triple-A ERA from 7.77 to 5.90. Bryan Hoeing struck out four in two scoreless innings of relief, and Francis Pena closed the game out with a 1-2-3 ninth with one strikeout.

San Antonio Missions (Lost 8-6 in 10 innings vs Midland) (50-45 on the season)
Francisco Acuna – 1-for-5, Home Run, Two RBI
Marcos Castanon – 1-for-4, RBI Double
Jagger Haynes – 5 IP, 3 H, 2 R, 3 BB, 6 K (75 pitches – 45 strikes)
San Antonio took a 3-2 lead into the top of the ninth inning, but Midland would tie the game off of Ethan Routzahn before taking a five-run lead in the tenth. Before even getting to the tenth, Jagger Haynes tossed five innings for the Missions. The San Antonio southpaw struck out six in his five innings of work, allowing only three hits and two runs. Stephen Jones struck out three in 1.1 innings of relief, and Tyson Neighbors’ scoreless July continued with another 1.2 scoreless frames. Ethan Routzahn allowed the tying run in the ninth and was battered for five runs in the tenth inning.
The Missions’ lineup showed further signs of life, rallying for three runs in the sixth inning. Anthony Vilar scored on a wild pitch and throwing error combination, creating havoc on the bases. Albert Fabian singled to score Romeo Sanabria, reaching second on the play. Devin Ortiz lined a single to right to score Fabian and give the Missions a 3-2 lead. In the tenth inning, down by five, Marcos Castanon doubled to score a run, and Castanon himself would score two outs later on a home run by Francisco Acuna. The comeback came up short, though, as Romeo Sanabria flew out to right field to end the game.

Fort Wayne TinCaps (Lost 7-0 vs Cedar Rapids) (46-48 on the season)
Brandon Butterworth – 2-for-4, Two Singles
Ryan Jackson – 2-for-4, Two Singles
Eric Yost – 3.2 IP, 2 H, 3 R, 3 BB, 3 K (70 pitches – 36 strikes)
Fort Wayne suffered a shutout loss to Cedar Rapids on Saturday. The offense tallied six hits in the game, but no runs, with all six base hits being singles. Brandon Butterworth had two base hits, and Ryan Jackson had two singles of his own. Sean Barnett singled and stole a base in the game.
Eric Yost did not have his best command in the game, as he threw only 36 strikes out of 70 pitches. Yost allowed only two hits but walked three. Three runs were scored off Yost, all coming in the second inning. Yost was able to strike out three batters, though. Will Varmette threw 3.1 innings of long relief, striking out five batters but being charged with four runs (three earned). Josh Mallitz returned to the TinCaps, retiring two batters in the game.

Lake Elsinore Storm (Lost 12-3 vs Stockton) (44-51 on the season)
Cobb Hightower – 2-for-5, Two-RBI Single
Zach Evans – 2-for-5, Double
Bryan Balzer – 2.2 IP, 5 H, 4 R (3 ER), 1 BB, 2 K (51 pitches – 30 strikes)
The Storm’s pitching staff faced struggles in Stockton, allowing 12 runs in the game. Bryan Balzer was not his usual self, as he was knocked around for four runs, three of which were earned. Balzer only struck out two in his outing, throwing two wild pitches. Kannon Kemp allowed nine hits and five runs in 2.2 innings. Tanner Smith struck out four in 1.2 innings, not allowing a run. Adam Conrad allowed three runs in 0.2 innings.
Cobb Hightower had a two-hit showing in the game, driving in two runs on a two-RBI single in the top of the second inning. Zach Evans had two hits in the game as well, including a double. Kale Fountain reached base twice in the game, scoring two runs in the game. Kasen Wells had a RBI groundout, and Ryan Wilson reached base twice in the game.

The DSL Padres Gold shut out the DSL Padres Gold in a dose of Friar on Friar action. Top signee Jhoan De La Cruz had a career day, finishing 3-for-3 with a triple, two singles, and three runs batted in. Eduarlin Tejeda had two hits, including a double, and drove in two runs. Alexander Garcia reached base four times, walking three times and scoring two runs. On their side, Jeronimo Palmeros started and threw two innings of scoreless ball. Miguel Alvarez earned the win with 2.1 scoreless innings. Edwyn Hernandez, Florangel Vasquez, and Yoesmerli Beltre finished the shutout, tossing the final 2.2 innings.
The Padres Brown did not have as productive a day on the field. Endy Rios had the team’s lone extra-base hit with a double. Jose Bericoto and Kaden Hernandez each hit a single, and Rios drew the team’s only walk. On the mound, Josias Figuereo allowed five runs in three innings of work, striking out four batters. Wilkins Matos got two outs in relief but allowed four runs. Victor Pilar pitched 2.1 innings of mop-up duty, allowing four runs of his own.
