Raidel Martinez

Havana, July 27 (RHC) – Cuban Raidel Martinez earned his 29th save of the season today in the Yomiuri Giants’ 6×5 win over the Hiroshima Carp in the Japanese Professional Baseball League 2025.

At Mazda Stadium, the lanky and speedy right-handed closer retired in a row all three batters faced in a one-inning performance.

Raidel, who had not posted a save since July 12, improved his ERA to 0.99 WHIP and took sole possession of the Central League saves lead.

Last season and as a member of the Chunichi Dragons staff, Raidel set a record of 43 saves. And in this season he seems ready to improve it.

Also, in another result of the day with Cuban participation, Lotte Marinos overcame Nippon Ham Fighters 5×4 at Es Con Field, Hokkaido.

For Nippon Ham, starter Ariel Martínez failed in a relief appearance to reduce his average to .217.
