MLB:

Seattle split the series with Los Angeles losing yesterday 4 – 1. That 1 run though was significant. It was Cal Raleigh’s Major League leading 41st. It’s the most by a switch hitter or a catcher and passed Ken Griffey Junior for most Mariners home runs in the first five seasons with 134.

The Mariners split the series and drop to 56 – 50, four games behind the

Astros, and tied with the Rangers for the last wildcard spot.

Seattle travels to Sacramento for a series against the As. First pitch tonight is 7:05.

San Francisco lost 5 – 3 to the Mets yesterday. Matt Chapman hit two home runs but struck out with the bases loaded in the bottom of the 9th to end it. The sweep by New York sends the Giants 2 and half games behind the Padres in the National League Wild Card. Next up the Pirates visit starting tonight at 6:45.

NFL:

Training camp notes-

The Seahawks are scheduled to practice in full pads for the first time in camp. Reports have first round draft choice Grey Zabol getting all the first team reps at left guard. Head coach Mike Macdonald has said his starting Offensive line may not be decided until they get into preseason games next week. One injury note: Running back Kenny McIntosh suffered what may be a season-ending knee injury.

San Francisco is signing veteran cornerback Eli Apple on a one-year contract to replace Renardo Green who is dealing with a hamstring injury. The 49ers are a bit shaky at the position even when Green does return. Up and coming receiver Jauan Jennings was out of practice yesterday with a calf issue. The entire receiving corps is dinged up one way or another. On the bright side though, second year receiver Ricky Pearsall did come off the Physically Unable to Perform list yesterday.

SOCCER:

The Timbers earned a win this weekend. Portland picked up a 1-0 road victory over LAFC on Friday. Cristhian Paredes scored the game’s lone tally in the 45th minute.

WOMEN’S CBB:

The Oregon State women’s basketball team added to its 2026 recruiting class. Maggie Warpus, who plays guard and forward, announced her pledge to the Beavers on Sunday. She is the second member of OSU’s 2026 class, joining local recruit Taylor Young.
