IT’S AMAZING THAT THEY WERE ABLE TO USE SOMETHING THAT WE’RE ALSO USING AS WELL. JEFFREY HEATON APPRECIATES THE LUGO’S EXPERIENCE. HIS SON, JACKSON, HAS BEEN FIGHTING LEUKEMIA. MOST OF HIS TEN YEARS. The Kansas City Royals are keeping their right-hand man for another two years. The Royals announced that right-handed pitcher Seth Lugo agreed to a two-year contract extension, securing him through 2027 with a vesting option for the 2028 season. Lugo joined the Royals in 2024 and has since started in 52 games. He has a 2.98 ERA, or earned runs average. This is the lowest ERA in the Royals’ 57-season history. He ranks second in the American League in innings and third in quality starts. After his first season, he was named an All-Star and won a Rawlings Gold Glove Award. Lugo is one of several pitchers on the active roster.
