Los Angeles Dodgers manager Dave Roberts provided a host of injury updates on a few key injured players ahead of Monday’s series opener against the Cincinnati Reds.

Blake Snell Injury Update

Left-handed pitcher Blake Snell, who hasn’t pitched since April 2, is expected to return to the big league rotation this weekend in the team’s series against the Tampa Bay Rays.

Roberts said he doesn’t yet know which game Snell will start, but it will be Saturday or Sunday.

Snell made just two starts this season, allowing two earned runs over nine innings with eight walks and four strikeouts before being sidelined with a shoulder injury.

Max Muncy Injury Update

Another Dodger nearing a return is third baseman Max Muncy, who’s starting a rehab assignment on Tuesday at Oklahoma City. Roberts said Muncy will play third base and take three at-bats, but it isn’t yet determined how many rehab games he’ll play.

Roberts said there’s a “slim chance” Muncy returns this weekend, but it’s more likely he joins the team next week on their homestand, which begins Monday, Aug. 4

Muncy is less than a month removed from the knee injury he suffered at the start of the month.

Kiké Hernandez Injury Update

As for some of the less positive news, Roberts said utility man Kiké Hernandez still isn’t doing any baseball activities, meaning he’s a long ways away from returning.

Nevertheless, he’s expected back this season as he recovers from his elbow injury.

Tony Gonsolin Injury Update

Finally there’s right-handed pitcher Tony Gonsolin, who Roberts said isn’t close to starting a throwing program. Roberts admitted last week that Gonsolin is probably running out of time to return this season.
