Top Pitching Performance of the Week

Nick Mears continues to be a magician, as his Baseball Savant page is filled with a whole lot of red, and he’s worked his way out of trouble (often inherited trouble at that) time and time again. Across 16 appearances (15 innings) this year, he’s allowed just one earned run with 14 strikeouts. This week, he inherited the bases loaded with one out (Monday), first and second with two outs (Tuesday), and first and second with one out (Friday) and allowed just one of those runners to score (which happened on an obstruction call Friday). I think that’s good?

Top Hitting Performance of the Week

There was no one super standout hitter this week, but Jackson Chourio and Rhys Hoskins tied for the team lead with seven hits each. Chourio hit .350/.381/.550 with a homer, a double, two runs, and three steals. Hoskins hit .368/.400/.579 with four doubles, four RBIs, and one run.

Injury Notes & Roster Moves

There were several moves on the active roster this week. When all was said and done (as of Sunday), Elvis Peguero, Andruw Monasterio, and Bryan Hudson are now with the major league squad, while Tobias Myers and Elvin Rodriguez are with Triple-A Nashville. Vinny Capra was also designated for assignment after a dismal start to the year.
Several pitchers continue to work their way back on rehab assignments. Aaron Ashby and Aaron Civale are both on rehab assignments with Nashville, DL Hall is on a rehab assignment with the ACL Brewers, and Brandon Woodruff made what should be his last rehab start with Nashville on Sunday — the likely result is he’ll be recalled for his season debut (and MLB appearance since 2023) later this week.
The Brewers added Bobby Dalbec on a minor league contract and assigned him to Nashville. He started the year with the White Sox but was DFA’d after going 4-for-18 (.222/.333/.278) in seven games with them.
Milwaukee’s trade with Boston for Quinn Priester was completed last Monday, with RHP John Holobetz sent to the Red Sox as the PTBNL.
