WATERTOWN, S.D. (Dakota News Now) -The State A Legion baseball tournament starts tomorrow in Watertown…
The home team is very excited to be hosting for the first time in over 30 years.
And they also feel really good about their team’s chances with the state’s best legion teams coming to town starting tomorrow.
Ryan Neale, Watertown Legion Coach says, “Looked at it and explored it and realized we have a great group of 8 seniors here with a good nucleus that was 3rd in the state last year. And we returned almost everybody back so we thought it was the right time to go after that state tournament and I think the city and the Watertown baseball community is really excited for that opportunity here.”
Kaden Rylance, Watertown Pitcher says, “Team-wise the spring season was a little rough I know. A few ups and downs but as the legion season got started we’ve kind of gotten it going a little bit. And I think we’re in a really good spot as a team heading into the post season.”
Rylance will play his college baseball at South Dakota State after a great high school/legion career. He’s also an outstanding golfer.
But first things first. He’d like to help his team win a State A Legion title on their historic home field. 1991 was the last time they hosted the tournament.
