The Los Angeles Dodgers have placed infielder Hyeseong Kim on the injured list with left shoulder bursitis. Kim has been playing through the injury for the past week, but has struggled to hit the ball, and will officially take at least 10 days off to get right.
Top prospect Alex Freeland is replacing Kim on the active roster, getting set to make his Major League debut when he gets into a game.

Kim has struggled mightily over his last 10 games, going 4-for-26 (.154) with two RBIs and an OPS of .308. He has 12 strikeouts over his last 27 plate appearances.
In May and June, Kim appeared in 37 games, hitting .383 with eight extra-base hits, 12 RBIs and an OPS of .968. He had just 18 strikeouts in his 87 plate appearances.
Kim will now take some time off to let his injury heal, while the Dodgers get an opportunity to see their top position player prospect in action.
Freeland, 23, was the Dodgers’ third-round pick in the 2023 MLB Draft. He vaulted through the minor leagues and is now getting set to make his MLB debut sometime this week.
In 94 games at Triple-A this year, he slashed .253/.377/.421 with 12 home runs, 71 runs batted in and an OPS of .799.
Freeland is currently the team’s No. 3 prospect, per MLB Pipeline.
