Padres minor league affiliates went 1-5 on Tuesday.

El Paso Chihuahuas (Lost 4-3 vs Round Rock) (54-48 on the season)
Forrest Wall – 1-for-4, Home Run

Cody Roberts – 1-for-2, Single, RBI
Matt Waldron – 6 IP, 5 H, 4 R (3 ER), 1 BB, 5 K (91 pitches – 59 strikes)
El Paso dropped the series opener against Round Rock, as Matt Waldron was outperformed by 2024 Chihuahuas teammate Carl Edwards Jr. Waldron pitched six innings, striking out five batters. While Waldron did not get many whiffs, opposing batters chased at one-third of pitches out of the zone. Waldron was not aided by a pair of fielding errors, but he was able to mitigate damage in the game after allowing three in the first inning. Omar Cruz struck out two in an inning of relief, earning whiffs on 42.9% of swings. Bryan Hoeing tossed a scoreless inning, striking out one.
Forrest Wall had a homer in the loss, turning on a middle-middle changeup from Carl Edwards Jr.for his fourth homer of the season. The former Rockies first-rounder has been strong defensively with some hidden slug in his bat. Luis Campusano finished 1-for-4 with a double, and Tim Locastro hit an RBI single in the seventh to score Campusano. Cody Roberts drew a bases-loaded walk against Josh Sborz to bring the deficit down to one. El Paso would be unable to rally, as they went 0-for-6 over the final two innings.
San Antonio Missions (Lost 4-2 vs Frisco) (51-46 on the season)
Devin Ortiz – 2-for-4, Home Run
Moises Gomez – 1-for-4, RBI Double
Braden Nett – 3 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 4 K (35 pitches – 22 strikes)
Braden Nett made his return to the mound after missing two weeks with lower-back stiffness, tossing three perfect innings with four strikeouts. Nett’s arsenal looked as good as ever, as he was touching 98 mph with his fastball. Jared Kollar pitched four innings in long relief for the Missions, allowing three runs on five hits. Kollar also struck out four and has pitched to an improved 26-to-12 strikeout-to-walk ratio in 31.1 innings in San Antonio.

Devin Ortiz had two hits as the Missions shuffled up their lineup after their recent skid. Ortiz homered off Rangers top prospect Mitch Bratt in the first inning. Moises Gomez had an RBI double in the eighth inning, scoring Devin Ortiz. Addison Kopack had a double in the game as well. Romeo Sanabria and Marcos Castanon had a single each, and are starting to find their swings at the plate post-All-Star Break.
Fort Wayne TinCaps (Lost 6-0 vs Great Lakes) (47-49 on the season)
Braedon Karpathios – 2-for-2, Two Singles, Two Walks
Rosman Verdugo – 1-for-3, Single, Walk
Ian Koenig – 6 IP, 7 H, 3 R, 2 BB, 3 K (85 pitches – 57 strikes)
In a crucial series against the Loons, Fort Wayne was shut out to open the series. The team registered six singles all game, finishing 1-for-5 with runners in scoring position and stranding nine runners. Braedon Karpathios reached base all four times he came to the plate, hitting two singles and drawing two walks. Karpathios also threw out a runner on the basepaths from right field. Leo De Vries drew two walks, and Brandon Butterworth was one of four players with one hit in the game.
Ian Koenig threw a quality start for the TinCaps, giving them all he could. Koenig allowed seven hits and three runs, but never allowed an inning to spill into a big inning. Koenig allowed a run in the fourth and two in the sixth, but managed to keep the ball in the yard, recording eight ground ball outs. Luis German allowed three runs on four hits in an inning of relief, and Josh Mallitz tossed two scoreless innings, fanning two.
Lake Elsinore Storm (Lost 6-5 vs Inland Empire) (45-52 on the season)
Cobb Hightower – 3-for-5, Double, Two Runs Scored
Alex McCoy – 1-for-4, RBI Double, Sac Fly
Humberto Cruz – 5 IP, 3 H, 1 R, 2 BB, 4 K (59 pitches – 39 strikes)
Humberto Cruz threw five innings of one-run baseball, but the Lake Elsinore bullpen allowed five runs between the sixth and seventh innings to fall 6-5. Cruz struck out four batters, and his slider continued to show growth. After looking flat or inconsistent in shape in the Arizona Complex League, his slider has shown improvements in depth of movement with Lake Elsinore. Vicarte Domingo allowed four runs on a hit, two walks, and a hit batter, not having his best command. After the Storm tied the game, Johan Moreno returned to the mound in the seventh, but allowed an RBI single to give Inland Empire a 6-5 lead. Igor Gil struck out three in two scoreless innings.

Cobb Hightower had a fourth consecutive multi-hit game, logging three hits and two runs scored. Hightower looks to be back to 100% and has been a threat at the leadoff spot of late. Alex McCoy had two RBI, hitting a sac fly in the fourth and knocking an RBI double in the sixth. Lamar King Jr finished 1-for-4 with a sac fly, and Kasen Wells drove in the tying run when reaching on a fielding error. Victor Figueroa reached base twice in the game, and Kavares Tears reached base three times in the game while starting in right field.
DSL Padres Gold (Won 11-4 vs DSL Red Sox Red) (26-14 on the season)
Jhoan De La Cruz – 2-for-4, Two Singles, RBI
Deivid Coronil – 1-for-2, Two Walks, Two Runs Scored
Carlos Alvarez – 0.2 IP, 1 H, 1 R, 4 BB, 1 K
Despite starter Carlos Alvarez walking four batters and not escaping the first inning, the Padres Gold won 11-4 against the DSL Red Sox Red. Dalvi Nunez and Miguel Alvarez each tossed two scoreless innings. At the plate, top signees Deivid Coronil and Jhoan De La Cruz had some of their best performances, each scoring two runs and reaching base at least twice. Jhojan Downer was 2-for-3 with two RBI, and Kevin Tamburini was 1-for-1 with an RBI double.
DSL Padres Brown (Lost 4-1 vs DSL Royals Ventura) (17-23 on the season)
Sebastian Pena – 2-for-3, Two Doubles, Run Scored
Juan Martinez – 1-for-4, RBI Single
Marco Eluscat – 4 IP, 7 H, 4 R, 3 BB, 4 K
Starter Marco Eluscat allowed seven hits and four runs in four innings of work. Eluscat was able to strike out four batters, but ran into trouble in both the third and fourth innings. Victor Pilar tossed three no-hit innings in relief, striking out two. Sebastian Pena had two doubles and a run scored. Abraham Bastidas was 1-for-3 with a single and was caught attempting a steal of home. Juan Martinez had the lone Padres Brown RBI with an RBI single in the fifth inning.
