Minor was a former professional baseball player who played for the Baltimore Orioles and Montreal Expos. During his time in the minor leagues, Minor helped lead the Delmarva Shorebirds to its first South Atlantic League Championship in 1997.
After his playing career, Ryan returned to the Shorebirds as a manager. Minor became the first person to have their number retired in Shorebirds’ history.

The Delmarva Shorebirds retired the #44 jersey of Ryan Minor, former player and manager, as the first-ever Shorebirds number retired Friday, Aug. 4, 2023, at Perdue Stadium in Salisbury, Maryland.
Minor died in 2023 following a battle with cancer.
Participants in the tournament will play 18 holes of golf, with the chance to win prizes and support the Ryan Minor Memorial Fund.
