MINNEAPOLIS — After the Red Sox had run the table against the lowly Washington Nationals and Colorado Rockies, they knew they had a bigger challenge in front of them.
From the last series of the first half to a demanding road trip coming out of the All-Star break, to a home series with the defending champion Los Angeles Dodgers to a brief trip here, the Red Sox had a stretch of 16 games.
