An intra-divsion foe strengthened with one of the more sought-after bats ahead of this year’s trade deadline on Wednesday night.

According to ESPN’s Jeff Passan, the Seattle Mariners are acquiring third baseman Eugenio Suárez from the Arizona Diamondbacks.

The move brings a second capable hitter to the Mariners’ clubhouse ahead of the trade deadline after Seattle traded for Josh Naylor from the Cleveland Guardians just days prior.

The Rangers are currently just a game back of the Mariners in the American League West and of the last Wild Card spot for the playoffs.
