NEW YORK – Almost in the background of MLB’s trade deadline day, the Yankees will attempt to win a series against the Tampa Bay Rays.

Following Wednesday night’s crazy, 11-inning, 5-4 Yankees’ win, they’ll send Marcus Stroman (2-2, 6.09 ERA) to the mound vs. fellow right-hander Ryan Pepiot (6-8, 3.42 ERA).

By 6 p.m. Thursday, the Yankees might have added multiple pitchers to upgrade their bullpen and deepen their rotation toward the stretch run. And as GM Brian Cashman said earlier this month, there’s areas on this club that need fixing.

Having added third baseman Ryan McMahon, utility player Amed Rosario and right-handed hitting outfielder Austin Slater the Yankees need – all together now- pitching, pitching, pitching.

And the clock is ticking, ticking, ticking.

Here is the lineup Aaron Boone will send out Thursday afternoon at Yankee Stadium, and remember there is heavy rain forecast this afternoon in the Metropolitan area:
