The Los Angeles Dodgers are acquiring right-handed pitcher Brock Stewart from the Minnesota Twins, per ESPN’s Jeff Passan.

The Los Angeles Dodgers are finalizing a deal to acquire right-handed reliever Brock Stewart from the Minnesota Twins, sources tell ESPN.

Stewart, 33, has a 2.38 ERA this season with 41 strikeouts across 34 innings. His expected ERA is even better at 2.25, which is in the 98th percentile of MLB.
Stewart generates tons of swing and miss with a whiff percentage of 32.8, which is in the 93rd percentile of MLB. He has five pitches, mainly using a four-seam fastball while also utilizing a sweeper, changeup, cutter and sinker.

Stewart is a former Dodgers draft pick in 2014. He was with LA from 2016-19.

Stewart was initially drafted by the Dodgers in the sixth round of the 2014 MLB Draft. He debuted with LA in 2016 and was with the organization until midway through the 2019 season.
He’s a much different pitcher now.

The Dodgers were targeting a high-leverage, right-handed reliever at this year’s trade deadline. Stewart fits that mold perfectly.
In 36 appearances against right-handed hitters this season, Stewart is allowing a batting average of just .104 with an OPS of .327. He has 29 strikeouts across those 67 at-bats.
