NEW YORK – Going back to the Colorado Rockies for trade deadline help, the Yankees have added Jake Bird to their bullpen.

As first reported by the YES Network’s Jack Curry, the Yanks landed the swing-and-miss right-hander in a deal that included minor league infielder Roc Riggio, the Yankees’ No. 10 prospect per MLB Pipeline.

Last Friday, the Yankees traded two minor league pitching prospects to the Rockies for third baseman Ryan McMahon, absorbing his $16 million annual salary through 2027.

Curry added that the Yankees sent infield prospect Roc Riggio and pitching prospect Ben Shields to the Rockies for Bird.

The move comes shortly after New York made a move to add reliever David Bednar from the Pittsburgh Pirates.

Bird, 29, spent all four of his MLB seasons in Colorado. In 2025, the righty has 45 appearances with a 4.73 ERA and 62 strikeouts in 53.1 innings.
