Should Tigers trade Tarik Skubal in 2025-26 offseason? Ex-GM breaks it down
Former MLB general manager Jim Duquette joins “Days of Roar” podcast to analyze if Detroit Tigers should consider trading ace Tarik Skubal this offseason.
PHILADELPHIA — The Detroit Tigers cut right-hander Matt Manning from their 40-man roster.
And then they traded him.
The Tigers sent Manning — a former top-100 prospect — to the Philadelphia Phillies on Thursday, July 31, less than 10 hours after he was designated for assignment. In return, the Tigers received outfielder Josueth Quinonez from the Phillies.
Quinonez, 18, is hitting .287 with two home runs, 12 walks and nine strikeouts in 32 games in the Dominican Summer League. He signed out of Venezuela in January 2024.
The Tigers selected Manning with the No. 9 overall pick in the 2016 draft.
